| Abstract | Smart cities phenomena aims in improving the quality of living through enabling the collaborative intelligence among different sources within the city. This work discusses the ability to create such transformation in different smart space applications using the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Also, it discusses the variation and classification of the RFID wireless technology. A comparison among different types of RFID is studied. The role of RFID technology in smart cities applications such as smart parking, traffic management, human tracking, and healthcare is presented. A case study in transportation collision detection and avoidance through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication is implemented that utilizes the adequate RFID technology. © 2019 IEEE. |
