Abstract An attractive solution to realize Smart city services highly depends on Internet of Things (IoT) devices deployed densely and widely within the city collecting various data. Distributed processing in a limited area while supporting scalable and flexible services is essential for intelligent city services. This paper proposes a new edge processing system supporting flexible service deployments. The proposed system consists of an edge framework and a cloud service. The edge framework supports container architecture to realize flexible service deployments, and the cloud service manages service containers for edge devices. As a result, the proposed system allows processing various services based on the container architecture on a single edge device. © 2021 IEEE.
