Abstract The paper deals with the current trends in the use of digital, information and communication technologies in Slovak cities in the sense of Smart city concept. The role of these systems is to provide simple and clear evidence and tracking of city performance indicators in areas such as city cleanliness, transport infrastructure, city management, security, health care, culture, sports, and so on. For this, cities can use different data acquisition methods, different ways of processing, interpreting, and other uses. © 2019 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
