Abstract Electric vehicles are a trending topic nowadays and are an important part of the smart world as well. Several economic and environmental causes are contributing to growing interest in alternative electric battery vehicle technologies. These variables include rising global demand for oil, concomitant rises in fuel prices, and anthropogenic climate change, and as it drives the entire system, the battery is the most critical component for every device. Monitoring the voltage levels of the battery is also critical, and excess charging and discharging of a lithium battery can reduce its lifespan. A Battery Management System based on the Internet of Things (IoT) can be used to notify the manufacturer and consumers remotely regarding the battery status. The paper discusses the interface of the RFID Reader Module (with authorized and unauthorized tags), generates the customer billing information, and shows the battery status as well. The interfacing is performed to transmit the customer information and battery status data to the Thing Speak cloud with the Raspberry Pi controller. Users can monitor the battery status of the vehicle and customer details on their mobile phones from anywhere in the world after they have registered with this cloud network, as the server will now be aware of the customer's status. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
