Abstract This work presents the development of a weather station based on IoT technology for web services in smart cities. Based on the variables to be measured, low-cost instrumentation was selected and a compact structure was proposed that unites the physical measurement devices, the electronic circuits for data capture and sending, and the required wiring. The components were manufactured using the plastic thermoforming process. After the assembly of components, functional tests were carried out. The data obtained from the measurement is sent by the processor to a wireless network through its IP address and a Node.js program reads the information and sends it to a Firebase Realtime Database to be read in a web services platform. The data can be used by third parties for processing and analysis, generating intelligent and automatic models of the observed variables. © 2024 IEEE.
