Abstract Over the last few decades, there has been a tremendous growth in the integration of technologies into the built environment, with the goal of making it smarter. The primary objective is to develop a smart built environment, which leverages emerging technologies to improve the built environment and the quality of life for the broader society that live, work and recreate within this environment. While efforts to develop the smart built environment continue apace, this book is an effort to capture the current state of the art and includes contributions from researchers and professionals from around the world.
