Abstract The advent of 6G technology can play a significant role in smart cities by providing incredibly high data rates, extremely low latency, and abundant IoT connection which will transform the cities into smarter, safer, and sustainable cities. This chapter discusses the benefits of adopting 6G in smart cities such as increased network connection, real-time data analysis, and accurate IoT sensing. It also discusses significant issues like costs related to infrastructure, the regulatory and standardization issues, and about the vital information privacy and security issues in the densely connected city environments. Collectively, this study emphasizes the significance of interconnectivity between technology creators, city administrators, and policymakers so as to optimize the benefits of 6G and resolve the key issues regarding its implementation. The outcomes represent core knowledge to inform policymaking in designing progressive and robust cities empowered by enhanced wireless connectivity. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
