Abstract The disposal of street waste is a complicated task in smart cities owing to preposterous waste management practices. The paper proposes an integrated system architecture, utilizing the YOLOv8 algorithm for real time classification of street garbage, citizen collaboration with incentives, and vendor-based integration with note for segregation and distribution. The dustbins are embedded with sensors to measure the fill level and send an alarm if it is surpassed. The citizens are updated centrally using a web application on the current state of cleanliness coupled with the collection progress of the waste. Proper disposal of waste is rewarded, and vendors are provided with segregated garbage for recycling, solving the problem of poor waste management. © 2025 IEEE.
