Abstract India is a country with a high population density. Because of the enormous population, transportation and vehicle parking are key issues for the people. The current article's objective is to give an intellectual parking system using image processing. Life being increasingly dominated by smart devices and the smart city designs have been inspired by the creation of technology that can send data over the Internet and connect to devices. The difficulty in finding free parking spaces is a common issue in most of the cities. The parking issue causes traffic congestion, wastage of fuel. A system for smart city parking proposals based on reservations is proposed. The proposed system uses registration via his/her mobile number through a user friendly mobile application. Image recognition is used to identify the empty spaces in the parking lot before assigning to an individual. After the slot selection the user will be required to provided his/her vehicle number and facial image. This will be followed by uploading the file into fire base cloud database. The system has been further upgraded by including facial recognition and no of free parking slot detection. © 2023 IEEE.
