Abstract This chapter examines a broad review of current power electronic technologies that enable renewable energy integration into the smart grid. Power electronics and renewable energy are two significant technologies that are growing at a rapid pace these days. Power electronics is responsible for power conversion, regulation, and transmission. Renewable energy, on the other hand, provides a long-term power source for industries to carry out their everyday operations. A smart city is a geographical area where people use sensing, computation, and networking technologies in their daily lives, such as smart transportation, smart homes, smart buildings, smart offices, smart industries, and smart agriculture, among other things.
