Abstract The aim of this paper is to explore the integration of Intelligent Transport Systems within the broader framework of Smart Cities, emphasizing their role in enhancing urban mobility, improving city efficiency, and promoting sustainability. By analysing case studies and existing implementations, the paper aims to provide insights into the benefits, challenges, and potential solutions for successfully integrating ITS into Smart City initiatives. The concept of Smart Cities has gained significant popularity worldwide, becoming a prestigious aspect for metropolitan areas and cities in developed countries. Each year, these cities strive to introduce innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life for their inhabitants.
