Abstract Innovative technologies run a new paradigm in smart cultural heritage and have reshaped our perception of the intangible values and integrated planning in these sites. Revitalizing the cultural heritages in smart cities supports the smart living and increasing the people awareness and added value in local cultural businesses. In this paper, the role of advanced techs in revitalizing the intangible layers of the Cultural Heritage (CH) in smart cities is brought up. Scrutinizing in the latest topics in the literature review and analyzing good practices in this field, the applying of new techs in smart CH sites analyzed. The core research question is: How innovative technology adopted to revive the CH intangible values in good practices? The objectives of this paper are, (I) exploring and presenting remarkable international experiences in smart cultural heritage field (II) analyzing a variety of smartness in actualizing intangible potentials of CH by pushing the memories over the edge of reality. Applying the innovative technologies in up-scaling the reconnoiter process and illuminating the practical techniques in cherishing and reviving the CH in smart cities is the result of this paper. © 2021 IEEE.
