Abstract There may be a plethora of new collaboration possibilities accessible to the linked smart devices in the IoT network because of smart city/medical IoT developments. Thanks to their constrained resource capacities, IoT devices in smart city/medical IoT settings can't handle heterogeneous and cross-layer services. Due to the large amount of data generated by IoT devices, processing must take latency into consideration. Cloud computing cannot provide a real-time response for critical smart city/medical IoT applications owing to network boundaries. A solution to the issues with traditional cloud computing has emerged: edge computing. An effective method for dealing with problems caused by heterogeneity and delay is edge computing. The widespread deployment of such small edge nodes raises several valid security issues, however. Threat actors have a lot of room to maneuver when targeting edge nodes because of their susceptibility to identification-based assaults like the Sybil attack. Given that the attacker node masquerades as legitimate nodes, conventional defenses are helpless against these types of attacks. Resilient defense against Sybil attacks is provided by the proposed edge-based technique. The last step in verifying the stated benefits was to assess the effectiveness of the planned trustworthy environment. © 2024 IEEE.
