Entering the age of communication and the emergence of intelligence has created a new change and transformation in human life. With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the emergence of new technologies, we have gradually witnessed smartening in the field of urban, agricultural, and public service delivery. Smart government is a combination of the smart city with e-government, the capabilities provided by the Internet of Things (IoT) save time and money for individuals and organizations. It also allows people to receive smart services at any time and place to improve processes and service delivery, so the purpose of this study is to identify IoT applications and their consequences in smart government. This research has used a qualitative approach to extract the indicators from the meta-synthesis method. The indicators obtained in the two dimensions of applications and consequences of using the IoT in smart government. The extracted indicators for applications are crisis management and environmental protection, transportation management, smart city, energy, and water management. Moreover, health and health care, citizen services, policy-making and security, socio-cultural services, industry and trade, and training of human resources are the indicators obtained for the dimensions of the consequences. As a result, these indicators can guide the application of IoT technology in smart government. © 2022 IEEE. |
