Abstract The growth of smart cities marks a significant shift in urban planning paradigms, with technology playing an increasingly crucial role in enhancing urban efficiency, conservation, and liability. Smart city projects leverage information and communication technology and Internet of Things technologies to improve infrastructure management, resource allocation, and public service delivery. This chapter discusses issues related to smart cities and society. It also emphasizes the ideas of smart city technology foundation, essential smart city infrastructure components, sustainability, and smart city governance policy.
