| Abstract |
This paper examines the shift in consumer preferences regarding NFC-based Smart Post Boxes as a concept evaluated in both pre- and post-COVID-19 contexts. The study focuses on the Czech Republic, assessing the economic viability and environmental impacts of these systems. Key findings indicate a 91.72% increase in operational savings and a 10.87% reduction in the payback period, from 1.27 years to 1.13 years. Additionally, there is a 114.04% reduction in externalities, including emissions, noise pollution, and traffic congestion, demonstrating the system's potential to support urban sustainability and efficiency. These results highlight the evolving consumer interest in contactless delivery solutions and the feasibility of further developing NFC-based Smart Post Boxes within smart city frameworks. © 2025 IEEE. |
