Abstract	The present study focuses on the effect of implementing high end tool i.e. building information modelling tool for infrastructural development of Smart cities. BIM is a robust tool which efficiently helps in managing various aspects of an infrastructure management by simulating real life scenarios and providing a detailed insight about the activities beforehand so that any possible delay in work and any wastage of resources can be conserved. Smart city is a hub of infrastructure combined with information and communication technologies. This city enables the use of high-end internet services and modern-day devices, henceforth, the application of BIM in smart city management can have crucial influence of its performance. Present work considered several significant parameters involved in the infrastructural management of a smart city and highlights the role of BIM and concludes that building information modelling has a vital influence on numerous management activities involved in a smart city. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
