Abstract WSNs are very crucial for smart city and environmental monitoring application. Low power for sensor nodes may reduce the transmission of data but since a sole mobile bowl is sufficient to sustain the system and reduce multi-hop communication. This manuscript presents a new approach to data dissemination using virtual cells notion, or groups of sensor nodes. A designated CH gathers information from all the member nodes and it interact with a mobile sink when it is nearby, that will act as a relay for the other virtual cells. To minimize the outcome of influence ingesting in the transmission process from a long distance, a mobile sink receives the data after aggregation but follows a specific route pattern. This strategy fully optimises the energy consumption, minimises the loss of data packets and enhances the lifetime of the sink mobility mode. There is potential for applying it in energy-limited WSNs with a single mobile sink since this procedure contributes to the decreased energy ingesting, network lifetime, and improvement in the speed of data delivery compared with the slowing of routing protocols as simulations have revealed. © 2024 IEEE.
