Abstract Efficient waste management is essential for smart city administrations, emphasizing eco- friendly practices. This paper introduces a route optimization technique for waste collection vehicles (WCVs) using a modified Dijkstra's algorithm. The goal is to prevent spillage from dustbins in various city locations. In typical scenarios, dustbins experience varying fill rates due to factors like demographic density, goods and services availability, season, time, festivals, and economic status. Traditional deterministic models struggle to capture this randomness effectively. The proposed system employs Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, wireless networks, and cloud servers to provide real-time information on dustbin status. This technological aid assists city municipalities in making informed logistic decisions, optimizing waste collection routes, and addressing challenges such as overflowing bins or logistic underutilization. This holistic approach leverages modern technologies to enhance waste Management efficiency in urban environments © 2024 IEEE.
