Abstract Due to the tremendous growth of internet-connected devices and rapidly increased data traffic in high-speed networks, a new generation, namely 5G, has been advancing in the telecommunication industry. Moreover, the Industry Internet of Things (IIoT) performs pervasive computing, and industries rely on interconnecting devices for their daily tasks. The IoT connects many devices in various applications with blockchain (BC), including smart homes, smart cities/communities, agriculture, healthcare 4.0, industry 4.0, and SCM, which transfers high-speed information, in particular, the 5G-enabled manufacturing setting through data gathering and computing. The majority of the problems, such as an entry management mechanism, time to fetch the information from various protocols and devices utilized, and protection and privacy of information, have remedies based on the centralized structure. However, the centralized structure may have one disadvantage of computational overhead. There is a need for a distributed cloud access management mechanism for system-to-system interaction in different manufacturing areas. It has been found that BC and 5G-enabled IoT can revolutionize a lot of recent and upcoming manufacturing uses regarding various sectors by offering fine-grained decentralized entry management. Different database and transaction logs could be traced effectively for utilizing BC for consistency and privacy upkeep within the contribution of new processes in the manufacturing sectors. The sensory challenges and issues of 5G-enabled IIoT operation are also examined within this content. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
