Abstract With the advancement in technology, IoT has impacted our lives tremendously. One of the applications of IoT that has touched almost every aspect of our lives is Smart Cities. Problems like parking congestion and limited car parking solutions are now feasible through the IoT Technology [1]. This paper is an attempt to overcome the problem of monitoring and managing parking slots. With the rapid increase of vehicles, finding an appropriate parking space poses a daily problem to an individual. There is a need for automated parking system. Currently, parking management relies on either human staff to track available parking spaces, staff to check the availability of each parking space, or the total number of available parking spaces. In both situations, people's knowledge was that they only knew the total number of parking spaces available, not the actual available locations. Basically, the cost of installing and maintaining a sensor-based system depends entirely on the number of sensors used in the parking lot. This proposed task detects and displays the parking space available in the parking lot and displays its location with 90-95% accuracy. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.
