Abstract The concept of a Smart City (SC) and its challenges have been under evolution for the last decade due to an increase in urbanization. During this period, the growing number of smart city projects resulted in deployment issues. But after successful implementation, it enhances city operations and raises inhabitants' quality of life. Therefore, smart cities are an immensely pertinent concept that needs a lot of development, until it enables them to realize their greatest potential and produces sturdy and strong solutions. The paper focuses on the Artificial Internet of Things (AIoT) emerging technologies for SC that have been embedded within city services. It reviews present scenarios of AIoT-enabled SCs and their contribution to the implementation of the same. This paper also presents some challenges along with technologies and initiatives that are still being developed to deal with them. © 2022 IEEE.
