Abstract	A smart city is an urban environment that gathers data through diverse electrical means and sensors. Smart cities utilize information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance service quality through the management of public resources, emphasizing comfort and preserving environmental sustainability. The fifth generation (5G) of wireless mobile communication facilitates a novel form of communication network to link all individuals and entities. 5G will have a significant impact on economies and civilizations by providing the essential communication infrastructure required by diverse smart devices. One of the many applications in smart cities is the Intelligent Transport System (ITS). 5G technology has the potential to transform ITS. The paper intends to examine the effects and significance of 5G on ITS from multiple perspectives. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.
