Abstract This review presents and discusses recent advancements in blockchain technology across multiple sectors, emphasizing its transformative potential in electric vehicle (EV) charging management, transportation safety, energy optimization, video tracking, healthcare, smart cities, construction, wireless communication, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and decentralized finances. The paper explores noteworthy proposals and development of prototypes regarding the role of blockchain in enhancing data security, traceability, and transparency within shared networks. Moreover, it addresses the concerns over quantum computing's potential to compromise blockchain's cryptographic foundations. By showcasing various applications, from improving supply chain efficiency to securing healthcare data, this review emphasizes blockchain's capability to foster operational innovation, cost efficiency, and data integrity, positioning it as a high promising technology for future digital infrastructure. © 2024 IEEE.
