This article explores the integration of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) within smart home care technology systems in a smart city context, emphasizing enhanced assistive care and resource optimization. Our findings reveal that AMRs enhance quality of life by providing personalized care and efficient resource management. Innovatively combining advanced camera guidance and stereography for navigation, these robots effectively respond to emergencies and ensure safety within smart homes. We introduce a novel navigation system that is intricately linked to smart home functionalities, enabling precise location tracking and efficient operation in synergy with existing smart home infrastructures. Our conclusions highlight the substantial potential of this technology to transform urban living spaces into more sustainable, efficient, and responsive environments. Through detailed analysis, this study demonstrates the critical role of technology in improving resident interaction and operational efficiency in smart cities. The novelty of this article is the navigation system of AMR and its connection to the smart home and smart cities concepts, in collaboration with other smart home systems, which enable precise location tracking and tailored assistive care, aligning with the smart cities ethos of enhancing residents’ quality of life. © (2024), (Korea Information Processing Society).
