Abstract This article investigates the theme of urban mobility in Smart Cities, identifying gaps and exploring opportunities. The research, of a qualitative nature, is based on a systematic literature review conducted by the PROKNOW-C method (Knowledge Development Process – Constructivist) to examine 34 relevant articles. The study begins with the definition of the research axes and keywords, followed by the selection of a bibliographic portfolio and the application of four methodological lenses. The systemic analysis of the selected articles reveals a diversity of themes, such as the integration of autonomous and electric vehicles, social acceptance of new transportation technologies and urban resilience. A concentration of studies on large cities and a predominant focus on qualitative approaches is observed, in addition to a growing trend in research on micromobility. However, a gap is identified in the research on medium and small cities, which face different challenges. The results also highlight the need for strategic urban planning that considers the most recent practices and innovations in the sector to promote the construction of more sustainable and inclusive cities. This study contributes to the understanding of the current state of the research field and offers directions for future studies, stimulating reflection on how urban mobility can evolve in a scenario of rapid transformations. © 2025, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco.
