Abstract Cloud Computing is ubiquitous, almost like plastics. Cloud computing, when introduced in its modern context, did serve the purposes it was intended to. But, the rapid pace of the changes occurring in our society has left the idea of computing superfluous. Problems such as security concerns, latency are the flagbearers of this shift towards the decentralized system i.e., fog computing. Moreover, the current computing power is significantly lower from what it can be, which is evident from the case study calculating Barcelona's computing capacity. The power of volunteer computing has also been substantially undermined, without realizing that it is the key to a self-sufficient ecosystem of IoT, which in terms supports the smart cities which the world is keen on developing. In this paper, through intensive analysis of pre-existing or published papers, a self-sufficient much-needed model, named as Stacker, is provided, which can play a pivotal role in alleviating the problems pertaining to autonomous smart cities. The proposed model is based on Cloud Computing, Fog Computing, and MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). © 2020 IEEE.
