Abstract In big cities, waste management is becoming challenging because of variety of wastes and quantity of the waste generated. If waste management is not proper, it is directly affecting environment and human life. For systematic and effective waste management, it is important to know the quantity of waste generated in a particular area. To know the quantity of waste and types of waste generated per day in a particular area, we can use prediction algorithm. Linear regression model is developed using past available data. For varying number of household, we can predict the quantity of solid waste generated per day for a particular residential area. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
