The environmental issues and challenges affecting the future of cities, particularly in Iran, will be discussed in this chapter, as well as the causes of these issues. However, efforts will be made to address these issues and challenges. Responses to making cities more livable and sustainable in the face of rising population, environmental problems, urban management challenges, and other issues will be discussed. This chapter will also go over the steps taken in Iran in terms of smart transformation and smart cities.
