Abstract This article serves as an introduction to the concept of smart homes and smart cities. It explores an integrated smart home system that provides residents convenience, security, efficiency, and energy savings. The methods and models for classifying smart homes describe systems that utilize wireless and wired communication technologies and centralized and decentralized approaches. Additionally, it delves into the concept of a smart city, where information and communication technologies are employed to enhance the lives of urban dwellers and optimize city infrastructure. The article also mentions a semantic database to optimize data management in the context of smart cities and homes.
