Abstract With the increased popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable means of transportation, it is crucial to establish a responsive and intelligent infrastructure to support and optimize their operations. Cities worldwide, including Agadir, are facing this transition, attempting to incorporate digital transformation and the evolving narrative of EVs in a seamless manner into the urban fabric. Despite Agadir's relaxed atmosphere, it faces the problem of optimizing road traffic for EVs and providing convenient and timely access to charging stations (CSs). The city aims to become a smart urban environment, which requires ingenuity to overcome these obstacles. To this end, we employ the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and a real-time simulation using SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) through the Traffic Control Interface (TraCI) in this study. This chapter presents a novel methodology based on the simulation solution of an intelligent system to optimize road traffic and promote seamless communication between EVs and CSs. This approach assures synchronized and efficient interaction, competently directing EVs and positioning Agadir as a potential pacesetter in smart city transformations. © CRC Press 2025.
