| Abstract |
In recent years, the new concepts of smart cities (SC) and urban service robots (USR) have become more important in our daily lives. In SC, information is gathered from a diversity of sensors placed all over the place, creating centralised data hubs, which are then used to make all the city systems work better, giving better services to the citizens. Integrating the big steps conquered in computer vision and artificial intelligence, the USR systems have gone from being able to do only simple tasks to more complex ones, like helping hotel concierges, museum guides, waiters in cafes and restaurants, home assistants, drones that deliver packages on their own, and more. As digital agents, all USRs can access the SC data to get the information they need to succeed in a specific task. On the other hand, the SC can also use the USR agents as mobile sensors and actuators. Traffic jams and the lack of parking solutions are problems in most big cities around the world, which can make driving stressful and a waste of time. We propose here a conceptual solution to solve the parking problem based on the intelligent management of parking lots assured by a USR system and a blockchain architecture type. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG. |
