Abstract With the pace of urbanization accelerating, smart cities are the newest concept, which will employ modern-day technology to bring about changes for the citizens and ensuring sustainable environmental practices. Another critical issue that arises in urbanization areas is the management of solid waste. Such advanced integrated IoT and ML technologies will be applied to develop highly efficient eco-friendly practical solutions for waste minimization, product remanufacturing, reuse and recycling in the Smart Cities. IoT sensors are deployed across the waste collection points, thus quite a huge amount of data is provided concerning waste generation patterns, bin fill levels, environmental conditions, etc. Using Machine Learning many algorithms are in place for processing this data and adjusting predictive analysis for waste accumulation and optimizing waste collection schedules. As well as that, ML models are used to identify the recyclable materials that are to use for recycling purposes in which it improves the sorting processes and activity. As well, this article examines the policy of remanufacturing, it specifically concentrates on the conversion of the worn out and to a large extent unusable products and recycling materials into new high quality materials. A significant advantage is that advanced tools for IoT monitoring will allow for smooth operations and the minimization of energy waste throughout the course of materials remanufacturing. On the one end, the reuse is ensured by smart platforms that enable how people can reused the existing things by re-circulating them within the community hence reduced new products demand and waste generation. Utilizing the business model of ML algorithms, these platforms will make sure that supply and demand gets a match in an efficient way that interlinks the city as a whole circular economy. Furthermore, the paper presents the use of blockchain for supporting visibility and stock tracking in the recycling supply chain. Through immutable registration of transactions and recycling procedure, blockchain guarantees authenticity of recycled products and most importantly gives incentives to the responsible practices of waste disposal. The offered measures not only serve to waste reduction but also help to increase the environmental cleanliness and develop the economy of Smart Cities. Through internet of things and learning machines application, cities can get promising cuts in waste, put into practical use circular economy principles, and leave with cleaner and healthier urban environment. Environment for their citizens. These results emphasize the necessity of technology-orientated policy in transformation of current waste management practices as well as present them in the new future in Smart City concept. © 2024 IEEE.
