Abstract	The book chapter is focused on the specific cases of smart city applications in the selected Slovakian city, which were implemented to improve the competitiveness as well as to create better co- operation of the chosen city representatives (municipalities) with the city users (citizens, entrepreneurs) and the main focus will be the principle of co- creation and new forms of communication among these entities, which were influenced by new technologies and smart decisions. The digitalization has enormously influenced the new trends of communication and the process of co- creation has been fully applied in the contemporary municipal managerial practices. The specific case study will be focused on the city of Banska Bystrica and the primary and secondary research in this city will be a base of our research and discussion. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
