Abstract The smart city is a modern area where various types of sensors and electronic methods are used to collect specific data. Cyber Security in smart cities is used to collect, share, analyse, protect, and manage large amounts of data to function properly. There are some security implications in smart cities. Proper cyber security measures may help smart cities to reduce their risk. The aim of developing smart cities is to provide a better quality of life to people through the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Intelligent Public Transport (IPT) is an important component of smart cities. To keep the smart city safe, we can invest in expensive security systems is one way. Technologies of smart cities may involve data processing with the help of analytical tools and algorithms. Creating safe smart cities requires significant amount of collaboration among the public and private entities. To properly secure a smart city, several security issues need to be addressed as per specific design/plan. In smart cities, cyber threats need to be taken more seriously. There is no more technological solution for completely secure. Due to dependency of components of information and communication technology on smart city affects cyber security for smart city. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Smita Sharma, Manikandan Tirumalaisamy, Balamurugan Balusamy, Naveen Chilamkurti; individual chapters, the contributors.
