Abstract Today, cities face many circumstances and emergencies that are difficult for the planner and the decision-maker to extrapolate. Therefore, the article will study the dimensions of urban smartness and the concept of urban resilience to determine what the common relationship that article can rely on is to enhance the understanding of "urban resilience" that can support the concept of urban smartness. The potential of a resilience smart city as a transformative framework for achieving the SDGs is also highlighted. Smart resilience aims to create sustainable urban environments that are not only effective and technologically advanced, but also adaptable, comprehensive and able to withstand various shocks and stresses by matching the indicators of smart cities with urban resilience. The article concluded that there is a relationship between the dimensions of urban resilience and smart cities and their connection to the targets of sustainable development in Goal 11 and other goals of sustainable development agenda. © 2025 Author(s).
