Abstract Flooding of bridges and the low-lying zones may become risky for infrastructure and people, thus to tackle the same a remote water level monitoring system will be proposed using a NodeMCU ESP8266, ultrasonic sensor relay module, and all the required parts. The proposed system is a real-time measuring device that gives visual indications for high water levels via LCD screens and LEDs. The relay module triggers the safety mechanism, and the NodeMCU sends data to relevant authorities. This is a cost-effective and scalable solution for areas that flood frequently and are relatively remote; it will ensure readiness for disasters and safe handling in the event of floods. The simplicity of components deployed assures easy deployment and maintenance toward the goals of a smart city. © 2025 IEEE.
