Abstract Digital governance, as a long-term cornerstone of management in the digital era, has received widespread attention from both academic and practical communities. The purpose of this paper is to systematically analyze the 3652 literature included in the WOS database, and use bibliometric methods to reveal the hot topic structure, evolutionary lineage, and emerging trends in the field of digital governance. The study finds that: (1) smart cities and urban governance, Internet and platform governance, corporate governance, and digital financial governance form the hot topics in the field of digital governance; (2) the evolutionary process shows the trend of changing from digital technology-driven to service-demand-driven, from local governance to multi-domain cross-fertilization governance, and from strengthening the norms of application practices to strengthening the construction of a sustainable ecosystem; (3) digital ethics, data security, sustainable development of digital economy, digital collaborative governance, enterprise governance innovation, and big data analysis application are the important directions of future digital governance research. © 2023 ACM.
