Abstract Wildlife violence is one of the severe problems in rural areas. The Internet of Things (IoT) can help solve the aforementioned problems. This study proposes a wildlife tracking system that uses infrared sensors. The system alerts people residing in a rural area if it tracks wildlife movements (approaching and leaving) near the area. Moreover, this study reports the prototyping of the proposed system, including component testing, and proposes the deployment of the proposed system as one of the functions of the FED4IoT project, which is a new smart city project. © 2022 IEEE.
