Abstract As technology evolves and urbanization accelerates, the concept of the smart city has garnered global attention. Smart cities utilize advanced information, communication, and sensing technologies to enhance the efficiency, convenience, and sustainability of urban environments. Characterized by comprehensive sensing systems, ubiquitous connectivity, and collaborative governance, these cities are livable, functional, and enjoyable urban spaces. This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence in sensing and optimizing the built environment within smart city construction sites. The primary objective is to enhance urban environments by developing a robust sensing system that is capable of monitoring the city in real time while working alongside AI-driven optimization models for informed decision-making. By incorporating intelligent management techniques, this research seeks to contribute to the sustainable development and resilience of cities, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet future challenges. © 2025 IGI Global.
