Abstract The street light monitoring node uses a range of sensors to keep an eye on vital metrics including light output, voltage, and current, allowing for effective energy management, problem finding, and real-time modifications. Between the street light nodes and the central control systems, the LoRa Routing Node serves as an essential middleman, enabling smooth communication. In this study, a ground-breaking initiative has been initiated by using LoRa (Long Range) technology to transform metropolitan lighting infrastructure. The innovative street light monitoring node and the LoRa routing node are the two nodes which is employed in this study. To allow real-time monitoring and management of street lights, the street light monitoring node includes cutting-edge sensors, including an STM32 IC board, LoRa RF module, LDR sensor module, voltage sensor, current sensor, and power supply. Urban lighting systems might be transformed by combining LoRa technology with cutting-edge sensor capability. The cities may save a lot of energy, save maintenance expenses, and enhance overall efficiency by utilizing real-time monitoring, energy optimization, and remote control. In general, this research intends to show the viability and advantages of using LoRa technology in intelligent lighting systems for cities. The initiative lays the path for a more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable urban future by tackling the problems with conventional infrastructure and utilizing the potential of wireless communication. © 2023 IEEE.
