Abstract In this research, we propose a smart city operation method that incorporates renewable energy and combined cooling, heating, and power, and optimize the installed capacity of storage batteries and renewable energy introduced in the smart city. The effectiveness of the proposed smart city has been demonstrated by minimizing total cost and carbon dioxide emissions. Furthermore, more realistic simulations are performed with decreasing capital cost for larger output of renewable energy. © 2020 IEEE.
