Abstract For the tourism route optimization problem, based on the improved Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and route optimization model, a route optimization method based on the tourism big data is proposed in this paper. First, the implementation steps of route construction and pheromone updating are introduced. Second, based on the Max-Min Ant System (MMAS), a route optimization model is established based on principal component analysis and cluster analysis. Third, a route optimization method based on big data in smart tourism is proposed. Finally, a simulation experiment is given for verifying the effectiveness of our proposed method. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a route optimization method based on tourism big data, which adopts the improved ant colony algorithm for route optimization and can effectively solve the tourism route optimization problem. Meanwhile, the route optimization model based on principal component analysis and cluster analysis can be optimized according to different needs, which is more flexible. © 2024 IEEE.
