Abstract Rainfall intelligence is becoming a critical component of smart city developments as cities throughout the world struggle with the problems caused by erratic weather patterns. This will be important for future urban development. Examining the complex relationship between forecast weather information and urban planning, this in-depth analysis dives into the ever-changing field of smart city technology supported by rainfall intelligence. The objective of this review is to offer significant insights into the development of urban planning and development through a comprehensive examination of case studies, technical breakthroughs, and their consequences. A path for cities aiming for sustainable and adaptable futures is revealed by the investigation of rainfall intelligence integration in smart cities, which ranges from improving resilience against threats associated with climate change to optimizing resource allocation. As it reveals the connections between meteorology and urban innovation, this voyage presents a convincing picture for cities as they move toward a more resilient and proactive urban environment. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, V.
