Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new segment of the global web that will experience quick and massive network growth. Proponents of the Internet of Things see all gadgets being networked and managed by a central authority. Hybrid AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies were increasingly used while building risk reduction techniques. The objectives are to determine the popularity and acceptance of IoT in the building industry, investigate key stakeholders' reactions, and identify barriers in the IoT decision-making process. This article explores the core concept of the Internet as it applies to construction projects, evaluations, and the use of IoT and AI in civil engineering. The purpose of this research is to highlight the different applications of the Internet in the development of smart cities and communities. In this context, a proposed AI with IoT (CAI) method is demonstrated, allowing us to examine how the foundational industry is employed, as well as its concerns and challenges. Capturing high-uncertainty risk and complicated relationships is a main goal of AI-based cost-risk assessment in the construction industry. This article provides future network potential for innovation, and it improves understanding of numerous prospective applications in civil engineering projects. The experiment results show that the ratio of analyzing big data is 85.5%, the percentage of improving facility management is 90.9%, the proportion of manufacturing efficiency is 91.7%, the percentage of improving worker safety measures is 84.2%, the ratio of managing architecture is 90.9%, and the ratio of evaluating the development stage is 92.6%. © 2024 IEEE.
