Abstract Developments based on emerging digital technologies and supported by 5G are the cornerstones of strengthening innovation ecosystem and socio-economic welfare of any country. In fact, 5G communication technology is already touching variety of industries, from health care and advanced manufacturing to transportation, from entertainment and media to smart cities, clean energy exploration and agriculture. In this paper, we present an overview of technologies to enable next generation of communication, 5G requirements, potential use cases and global supply chain for 5G that will define communication over next decade and complement other digital technologies to unprecedented applications, products and services. © 2020 Mosharaka for Research and Studies.
