Abstract The implementation of a drone-based system for accident reporting marks a pioneering advancement in traffic management and safety. "Flying Najm" leverages drones equipped with high-resolution cameras to provide a real-time solution that addresses traffic congestion, accident response times, and public safety. This paper introduces a novel approach by automating the traditionally manual accident assessment process, offering faster and more efficient operations. The shift to a fully integrated, drone-enabled system represents a significant enhancement in urban mobility and traffic management strategies. The prediction is a 40% reduction in accident response times, leading to a 20% decrease in congestion in high-traffic areas. These improvements are expected to enhance road safety by 15% and yield potential economic savings of 2 billion Saudi Riyals annually through the reduction of traffic delays. What distinguishes "Flying Najm" is its integration of remote sensing, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and GPS, making it one of the first systems to use drones as a core component of traffic management. This innovation advances the field of smart cities and digital transformation, setting a new standard for efficiency and safety in urban environments. © 2024 IEEE.
