Abstract Reliability of power supply is very important for critical loads like hospitals and banking sectors. The proposed system uses IOT-based routers to manage and maintain the continuity of power supply for the critical loads in the network during a fault. When a fault is identified the system receives a notification signal and the power supply network is re-routed within a few minutes of the fault. The faulty line is safely isolated from the network allowing the operator to arrange for a repair. The IoT system empowers the operator to guide the repair team to the precise location where the fault has taken place. Once the fault is rectified the system tests the connection and restores the supply. By using this IOT-based system, the continuity of the Power Supply is ensured. This can find application in smart city initiatives. © 2023 IEEE.
