Abstract Smart mobility is an important dimension in a smart city and one of the key issues of national and international programs. It is rooted in the international literature on urban development [1], it is a paradigm shift towards a more flexible and multimodal transport system [2]. Real-time optimization of roads and public transport flows to reduce traffic congestion, control speed, costs, and CO2 emissions, is the real added value for future smart cities. The concept quickly spread as a result of a real change in the transport field. In the last thirty years, the sector has been able to take ownership and benefit from the development of information and communication technologies; among these technologies, we find persuasive technologies. By Definition, TP is “any interactive computer system designed to change the attitude and behavior of people using various strategies” while the study of the design, research, and analysis of such technologies are called “Captologie”. This work involves identifying different principles of persuasion and their strategies, research has attempted to model the behavior of technology users’ in order to have a better understanding of how to influence them. In this paper, we present the main behavioral models developed in the field of persuasive technologies and also we offer a comparative study between existing systems. This is a first study aimed at the most effective persuasive technologies that change citizens’ attitudes in the transportation field. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
