Abstract Security of data during its traversal over the internet and in applications of the Internet of Things is a key concern for businesses, governments, societies and individuals. In August 2019, the Australian government banned Huawei from participating in the construction of 5G mobile phone network in the name of national security. This shows that the security of 5G technology is still a controversial issue. However, there are many people in the industry who say that the new generation of 5G Internet is destined to improve and stabilize the network security and privacy It is expected that the 5G network would achieve a true 'Internet of Everything' when it enters the commercialization, expected in 2020-21. It is claimed that the 5G network would cover mobile phones, smart homes, autopilot car, telemedicine services, smart city service systems, etc. It is argued that the 5G network would make our lives subtle and more pleasant. The aim of this article is to describe the 5G network and the associated security aspects. © 2020 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
